Payroll Specialist

MAJOR FUNCTION:
The Human Resources Payroll Specialist is responsible for preparing bi-weekly payroll data, verify output, reconciling, and maintaining payroll, e-time, report writing, & I-pay systems. . Maintain and produce payroll reports, and verify withholding taxes reported to appropriate government agencies.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Prepare bi-weekly payroll, which includes updating system with new hires, changes, and terminations, reconcile output, and submit reports to Accounting.
Produce payroll reports: DOL report, 401(k) report, quarterly merit change, headcount reports, overtime report, flexible spending reports.
HR GENERAL
Responsibilities:
Provide back-up assistance in answering phones, and assisting employees with questions additional projects, as assigned.
RESPONSIBILITY AND DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITY:
Employee should be able to make independent decisions in order to effectively do the job satisfactorily, relative to his/her job responsibilities (listed above).
Employee should contact applicable payroll & benefit vendors/providers for clarification regarding policies and systems.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
Workforce Now, ADP PC Payroll, EZLabor, I-pay program and thorough knowledge of benefits administration experience necessary.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
Excellent organizational, computer (MS Office & Payroll Programs (listed above), and communication and writing skills necessary.
ABILITIES REQUIRED:
The ability to prioritize workflow, remain focused, work independently, be detail-oriented, be thorough, and multi-task is necessary. Positive attitude and flexibility is essential.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
College classes required, College Degree preferred
Courses in Business, Human Resources Management, Psychology/Industrial Psychology, Sociology, Communications, etc.
3-5 years benefits administration and payroll experience required, ADP payroll required
With an experienced employee, it should take 3-6 months to perform the job satisfactorily
E. Understanding the benefits' policies would probably take the longest to learn since the SPD varies per benefit and there is much detail to consider
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
