Job Description:
Scope:
Under general direction of manager/supervisor and technical leadership of other experienced team members, perform system administration and management tasks including operating systems installation and configuration, system backup/restore, performance tuning, troubleshooting and problem analysis.
This position is the mid-level position in the IPNT System Engineering group.
The primary interaction of the Systems Administrator is with other team members, other IPNT groups and other business units.
Install, maintain and troubleshoot operating system server environment and processes.
Interact with end users to troubleshoot reported problems or to perform required system maintenance activities.
Implement and maintain system security attributes for all operating systems environments.
Perform system management, change control and disk management in the server environment.
Implement system backup and recovery processes.
Perform server environment monitoring and proactive management to prevent service interruptions.
Oversee and perform systems installation and configuration of application parameters including log management, memory allocation, cpu resource management, etc.
Schedule and perform operating systems environment software upgrades.
Install new hardware as required to support projects or virtualization expansion.
Develop and maintain a comprehensive systems software inventory/library for all related support documentation and procedures.
Conduct periodic software/environmental audits to validate compliance with established standards, policies, configuration guidelines and procedures.
Monitor and administer system performance, including storage, applications and network activity.
Design and implement improved methods and tools for troubleshooting, problem research and open systems utilization.
Develop documentation including operations manuals, procedures and problem resolution.
Escalate problems to senior technical team members and/or vendors in a timely fashion.
Develop techniques and implement resolution of problems based on root cause analysis.
Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
High knowledge of systems administration tools and processes.
Superior knowledge of server technologies on various operating systems(UNIX, Linux, and Solaris are required).
Good scripting skills (Shell, UNIX, Perl)Strong understanding of networking/routing and TCP/UDP protocols in a distributed computing environment.
Exceptional customer service skillsKnowledge of OSI model layers and how they interrelate.
Strong inter-personal and communication skills with co-workers.
Ability to work independently on tasks of moderate and high complexity and assist systems engineering with tasks of high complexityAbility to multi-task and adjust priorities based on workload.
Ability to work as a team player.
3 - 5
years previous system administration experience on multiple operating systems (UNIX, Linux, Solaris and Windows are required).
Previous experience working in a mid to large site/network.
Previous experience working in a dynamic, high pressure production environment.
Previous experience managing systems with a large customer base.
Prior knowledge/experience with Internet applications (DNS,DHCP, Mail applications, System Security, System monitoring/management).
Industry standard application protocols (HTTP, HTTPS, FTP).
Understanding of SSH, SSL, LDAP, DNS.
Strong knowledge of networking and telephony technologies Education:
BS/BA in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field is highly preferred.
Minimum of 60 College credits required or military experience or technical/trade school certification.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
