Able to navigate the EHR efficiently, and identify and utilize all documentation available to support complete and accurate code assignment.
Abstract all required data elements for computer entrySecure all available information prior to coding for the highest degree of accuracy and follow up on coding problems as necessary.
Keep abreast of all coding changes and guidelines and participate in mandatory education.
Consistently meet departmental requirements for productivity and accuracyCommunicate to supervisor any documentation needed on the charts or other issues preventing timely coding.
Demonstrates a strong familiarity of diagnostic and procedural terminology and disease processes and applies this knowledge in code assignment.

Employee is responsible to participate in educational activities outside of business hours as needed to acquire necessary CEUs.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
High School Diploma or equivalency, coding degree or certificate from an approved program.
CSS certification requiredMinimum 2 years recent acute care inpatient coding experience required.
Outpatient experience a plus.
The pay for this position ranges from $25 - 38 per hour/per year.
This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience.
The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
