Director Sales Engineers

JOB SUMMARY: The Director, Sales Engineering - has the responsibility of hiring, training and developing Sales Engineers in support of the Optimum Lightpath sales team. The Director should be skilled at directing and coordinating the tactical activities of the SEs who are responsible for supporting OLPs product offerings. The Director plays an active role in specifying requirements, developing and implementing the training curriculum for the SEs and Sales Representatives. The Director is tasked through quantifiable assessments to expand the productivity and capabilities of the SEs in their region and is charged with interfacing with the local sales management to aid in the facilitation of closing deals, addressing local issues and providing a value-add above and beyond the management of the local SE. This includes working with internal business units. The Director will act as an escalation point for technical questions and issues elevated from the local SE. The Director also acts as subject matter expert (SME) and is available to travel for customer appointments, fostering company relationships and continued support and technical development of the market and region. REQUIREMENTS: Insure all SEs possess the knowledge which will allow OLP to serve customers and prospects. Introduce the formal role of an SME for certain offerings. Create a formal repository of knowledge to allow SEs to be self sufficient. Clearly define the role of the SE and insure all team members understand that role and comply with the requirements. Create measurement system to assess compliance. Focus on quality in addition to quantity of output. Identify, implement, and gain access to systems and tools to support the SE team in their job function. Examples include job aides and basic tools for mapping and design. Support the sales process with detailed technical knowledge of the OLP product line and Network. Coordinate all technical support requests and escalations with the VP of Sales Operations and other Directors of Technical Services. Insure that SEs capture all technical requirements linked to an opportunity and generate the associated technical and business proposal with the sales team for presentation to the customer. Insure SEs create effective and comprehensive system designs to present to upper management and engineers of client companies while working closely with engineering to satisfy customer's technical needs. Become the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on all current and future products and services. Introduce a formal process to guide the SE team on working with new products/offerings. Create a plan for ongoing training and technical certifications to ensure knowledge does not become obsolete. Develop and lead regional technology training sessions. Participate in installation/hand-off post-sale meetings to ensure a smooth transition between internal groups. Create a feedback loop to Product and Engineering groups. Work with Sales Operations and Business Planning to develop compensation programs that drive specific desired behaviors. ierarchical team structure with dedicated management and support for each region QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of 10 years experience in the data/telecommunications industry with proficiency and experience in Data Communications WAN and LAN operations and design, transmission, data products, and customer premise equipment Intimate familiarity with the data market and data products offered by competing carriers Advanced networking and routing knowledge that should include but not be limited to MPLS, BGP, EIGRP, RSVP, OSPF, IS-IS, RIP, VPLS, and HSRP Strong background in configuring and maintaining Cisco routers, switches and VLANS Extensive knowledge of Frame Relay, ATM, SONET, Ethernet, IP Telephony required, Layer 2 Switching and Layer 3 Routing. oStrong working knowledge of VPN's, Firewalls and Proxy Servers oProficient Voice knowledge of PIMS- CCIS signaling, 4w E&M, 2w/4w FXO/FXS, Ring generators, PLAR, A/B C/D bit signaling, loop codes, S/N ratio, channel banks, channelized t1's. microwave tie lines, Scientific Atlanta, RF voice/microwave converters, spectrum analyzer and oscilloscope trouble isolation, codex equipment, ISDN PRI/BRI, TEI Codes, Spids, H323, Hoot & Holler, SS7, PBX's- analog, digital, PBX Clocking- single timed to plesi-isocronous. DTI converters, 1/0, 4/0 DACS Switching, TDM, TDM over IP systems, STDM, CSU/DSU configurations, Centrex, Private lines. Strong Drop & Insert troubleshooting proficiency. Working knowledge of Hunt types, Line Coding, PRI's, T1's Working knowledge of Hosted and Premise based VoIP systems that include Cisco Call manager. VoIP knowledge should include all current protocols such as SIP and SCCP which are transported over L2/L3 networks via TCP and UDP, and transporting VoIP over an HFC networks. Extensive knowledge in Layer 1 topologies that include CWDM, DWDM, ROADM, and FOADM networks, as well as layer one Fibre Channel protocol. Excellent troubleshooting skills to 4th level support and above, up to and including protocol layer and customer applications layer isolation of delay and outage issues. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
